What Is a Cold Process Soap?

Cold process soap is made by slowly combining oils and butters with a lye solution, allowing them to naturally transform into soap through saponification.

This method:

  • Retains naturally formed glycerin
  • Preserves the integrity of milks and oils
  • Avoids synthetic detergents and fillers


The result is a soap that feels mild, balanced and skin-respectful.

Cold Process Soap vs “Goat Milk Washes”

Many products called “goat milk washes” are syndet-based liquid cleansers.

They usually:

  • Contain only a small amount of milk extract
  • Are diluted with water and surfactants
  • Depend on fragrance and thickeners
