What Is a Cold Process Soap?

Cold process soap is made by slowly combining oils and butters with a lye solution, allowing them to naturally transform into soap through saponification.

This method:

  • Preserves the integrity of oils, butters and milks
  • Retains naturally formed glycerin
  • Avoids synthetic detergents and fillers

The result is a soap that cleanses gently and respects the skin barrier.

Cold Process Soap vs Syndet “Moisturising Bars”

Most commercial “moisturising bars” are syndet bars - detergent-based products made quickly using surfactants and binders.

Syndet bars:

  • Are not true soap
  • Are manufactured rapidly
  • Depend on synthetic slip agents

Why Each Bar Takes 45–60 Days to Make

After pouring, cold process soap must cure.
During curing:

  • Excess water evaporates
  • The bar hardens naturally
  • Lather becomes creamier and milder

Is this soap safe for children?
Yes. Suitable for ages 6+. Essential oils are used in very low amounts and become extremely subtle after curing.
Does it contain real sandalwood and saffron?
Yes. We use genuine sandalwood essential oil and saffron essential oil - not synthetic fragrance substitutes.
Is this tear-free?
No. Like all true soaps, it should be used carefully around the eyes.
